ARGUS vs Aikido Security (2026): Depth vs Breadth

ARGUS vs Aikido Security compared: features, pricing and when each fits. Aikido covers code, cloud and runtime; ARGUS goes deeper on code, APIs and fixes.

ARGUS vs Aikido Security comes down to breadth versus depth on the code side. Aikido is a broad all-in-one platform covering code, cloud, runtime protection and pentesting, priced per developer. ARGUS goes deeper on application code: it maps every API entrypoint to the sensitive data behind it across all your repos, ranks real attack paths, and opens verified fixes as pull requests, on flat plans with unlimited seats.

Last updated 3 November 2026. Competitor details are taken from Aikido's public pricing and product pages on that date.

Both tools are built for lean engineering teams that don't have a full security department, which is why they end up on the same shortlist. The question is which job you need done. If you want one vendor for code scanning, cloud posture, container images, DAST and runtime protection, Aikido covers more surface. If your risk lives mainly in your own application code and APIs, and you want each finding to arrive as a fix rather than a ticket, ARGUS is built for that. Where Aikido is stronger

Aikido's real advantage is breadth. Its platform puts code scanning, cloud misconfiguration checks, container and virtual machine scanning, DAST, attack surface monitoring, in-app runtime protection and AI-run pentests behind one login, and it syncs findings to compliance tools. For a small team that wants a single dashboard across code and cloud, that is a strong offer, and its pricing is public, which many security vendors still don't do. ARGUS does not scan live cloud accounts, run DAST against a deployed app, or protect running workloads. If those are on your must-have list, Aikido covers them and ARGUS doesn't.

Where ARGUS goes deeper

ARGUS concentrates on the part of the attack surface that only your team writes: the code and the APIs it exposes.

  • API entrypoints to sensitive data. The Atlas view maps every API entrypoint to its handler and to the sensitive data behind it (databases, PII, credentials), showing whether each entrypoint requires authentication. That answers the question a buyer's security team asks first: which public endpoints can reach customer data? See how an ARGUS scan maps APIs to data.

  • Across all your repos. ARGUS correlates findings across every repository in an organisation, so an attack path that starts in a gateway service and ends in a database client in another repo shows up as one chain, ranked and mapped to MITRE ATT&CK.

  • Fixes that are checked before you see them. The fix agent clones the repo, writes the smallest change, verifies it with a build and a re-scan, then opens a pull request. It never merges; a person reviews.

  • Signal over noise. Every dependency finding is marked reachable, unreachable or unknown with an evidence string, and gets a 0 to 100 priority that blends CVSS, EPSS, CISA KEV and reachability. Reachability is import-level and covers JavaScript, TypeScript and Python; findings in other ecosystems are treated as reachable rather than hidden. See reachability analysis.

  • Evidence for buyers and auditors. Each project gets a STRIDE threat model, SBOMs in CycloneDX and SPDX, plus CBOM and post-quantum readiness reports, and evidence packs for the EU Cyber Resilience Act and NIST SSDF with OWASP Top 10 mapping.

How do ARGUS and Aikido pricing compare?

Both publish prices, which makes this easy to check. Aikido's free Developer plan includes 2 users and 10 repos, with rescans every three days. Its Basic plan is listed at $300 a month including 10 users and 100 repos, and Pro at $600 a month including 10 users, with prices rising as you add developers. Aikido also offers startups up to 30% off.

ARGUS charges by usage, not by seat. The Free plan is $0 with 100 credits, 10 rule-based scans and 10 automatic PR reviews a month on one project. Pro is $49 a month (1,000 credits, unlimited rule-based scans, 100 PR reviews, unlimited projects) and Team is $199 a month (5,000 credits, 500 PR reviews, roles and policy management). Every plan has unlimited seats, so adding a tenth or fortieth developer doesn't change the bill. Credits cover AI work such as deep scans, fixes and reviews; rule-based scans on paid plans don't use them. Full details are on ARGUS pricing.

The plans are not feature-equivalent, since Aikido's paid tiers include cloud and runtime modules ARGUS doesn't offer. Compare on the jobs you need, not the headline number.

When should you stay with Aikido?

Stay with Aikido, or choose it, if:

  • You need live cloud posture management, DAST or runtime protection from the same vendor as your code scanning.

  • You want a single dashboard across code, cloud and running apps, and depth on any one layer matters less than coverage of all of them.

  • Your team already runs Aikido and the main complaint isn't noise or missing context on API risk.

If you keep Aikido, you don't have to choose all or nothing. ARGUS can run alongside it on the repositories where API and data-flow risk matters most, so you get the cross-repo API view and verified fix pull requests without replacing your cloud and runtime coverage.

Which should you choose?

Pick by where your risk actually sits. If most of your exposure is cloud configuration and running infrastructure, a broad platform like Aikido fits. If it's the application you ship (the endpoints you expose, the data behind them, the dependencies your code really calls) ARGUS gives you a deeper view of that layer and turns findings into reviewed pull requests rather than a growing queue. Many teams evaluating both are really asking how to stop alerts piling up; the OWASP Top 10 is a good reminder that broken access control, the top risk, lives in application logic that only code-level analysis sees.

Frequently asked questions

Is ARGUS a good Aikido alternative?

For teams whose main risk is application code and APIs, yes. ARGUS covers SAST, dependencies, secrets, IaC and container base images, maps API entrypoints to sensitive data across repos and opens verified fixes as pull requests. It does not replace Aikido's cloud posture, DAST or runtime modules.

Is Aikido free?

Aikido has a free Developer plan with 2 users and 10 repos. Paid plans start at $300 a month including 10 users, according to its pricing page on 3 November 2026.

Does ARGUS charge per user?

No. ARGUS plans have unlimited seats. You pay for usage: $0, $49 or $199 a month, with credit top-ups for extra AI work.

Can I use ARGUS and Aikido together?

Yes. Some teams keep a broad platform for cloud and runtime and add ARGUS on the repos that hold their API and data logic, where cross-repo attack paths and verified fix PRs matter most.

Does ARGUS scan my AWS account like Aikido does?

No. ARGUS scans infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Kubernetes manifests, Dockerfiles) before it deploys, not live cloud accounts. For live posture, use a CSPM such as Aikido's cloud module or AWS Security Hub. See AWS Security Hub vs a code scanner.

Our read

Aikido and ARGUS are both answers to the same problem: small teams can't staff an AppSec function, so the tool has to do more of the work. Aikido answers it by covering more layers. ARGUS answers it by going deeper on the one layer attackers reach first, your own endpoints, and by delivering a fix instead of a finding. Start ARGUS free on one project and compare its findings against what you have today.
